This is the home of the famous tapestry and cathedral. It is about an hourís drive from Ger and well worth a visit.

Normandy Beaches

Made famous during WW2 the beaches stretch from Ouistreham in the west to St Mere Eglise in the north east. There are many museums along this stretch of coastline and are worth a visit for anyone interested in military history.

At Arromanches there are still the remains of the Mulberry harbour and an excellent museum.

There is a market every day of the week in Normandy. One of the best is at St Hilaire du Harcouet on a Wednesday. There you will find fresh fish, local fruit and vegetables, bread, honey, spices and all the usual clothes stalls.

On Friday it is market day in Vire. There are lot of stalls selling fruit and vegetables, fish, meat and cheese.
